Fundamentals of Aortic Aneurysms and Acute Aortic Syndromes

Harvard Aortic Aneurysms and Dissections: What Every Clinician Should Know — one-day live virtual CME course co-directed by Arminder Jassar, MBBS; Matthew Eagleton, MD; and Eric Isselbacher, MD, of Massachusetts General Hospital provided a comprehensive foundation in the diagnosis and management of aortic disease. Divided into three focused sessions—Ascending Aortic Aneurysms; Descending Thoracic and Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms; and Aortic Dissection and Other Acute Aortic Syndromes—the program explored patient risk factors, evaluation strategies, and imaging modalities (ultrasound, CT, MRI). Each session reviewed current approaches to initial treatment (medical therapy, endovascular intervention, open surgery) and long-term follow-up protocols, ensuring participants can optimize patient care and recognize when referral to specialized centers is indicated.
